Blue Rocks is a picturesque fishing cove on the South Shore of Nova Scotia.

I enjoy the challenge of photographing the Blue Rocks trio of fishing shacks. It is limited in the 'angles' it can be shot at and forces the photographer to tap 'his' creativity to create a unique compostion.

Sunrise At Bluerocks
Rewarded with a restless night I awoke at 4am and could not get back to sleep. After calling the weather line and recieving a report of rain moving in at daybreak I packed my gear and headed for Blue Rocks.
I arrived as the sun was about to break the horizon and the bad weather was nearing the horizon. An ideal sunrise.
And, voila.......Sunrise At Blue Rocks!

Boats Close Up
The idea here was to fill a large portion of the image with the boats making them the main subject The fishing shacks are included as a backdrop to emphasize the theme of the image.

Boat At Blue Rocks
Again, the boat is the main subject. This time I cropped the fishing shacks to frame the boat but included enough to puntuate the theme of the image.

Fog At Blue Rocks
I chose a not so good day to photograph this time to go against the common image of Blue Rocks. The fog adds mood and carries a Maritime theme.

Frosted Blue Rocks
This image was created by overexposing to different images on slide film and combining the two in one slide mount to make a properly exposed 'montage'.
The images are an overexposed image of 'Fog At Blue Rocks' and an image of frost on a window.

Two Pairs
Here is a vertical composition of two of the boats and two of the fishing shacks.
Since the shutter button is, on most cameras, in the horizontal format, many people will not think to consider a vertical composition.

Rippled Bluerocks

Same process here as "Frosted Bluerocks" except this time 'Fog At Blue Rocks' is sandwiched with an image of  frozen rippled water.

Nova Scotia

Nautical province
Out of reach, gaining
Victory over my heart
And captivating me

Sea scapes and fisherman's
Coves, calling my name
Over the miles and miles.
Telling tales of mysteries
I have not yet solved,
Anchor me in your harbor
