Previous to buying my first real camera I carried a "point and shoot" camera with me on my many day trips around Nova Scotia. I got a few lucky shots but wanted more control and knowledge of the medium called photography.

I purchased a Canon Rebel SX camera in the Spring of 1996 and borrowed my brothers' photography books (he was also bit by the photography bug). Several rolls of poorly exposed film later the ratio of images filling the trash started to swing in my favour.

That fall I discovered The Photographic Guild Of Nova Scotia (Atlantic Canada's largest photography club) and I became a member. Here I competed with my photographs and learned that if I wanted to start winning competitions I would have to humbly evaluate my images.

In the fall of 1997 I enrolled in a colour slide photography course insructed by a local accoplished photographer and fellow guild member, Keith Vaughn. This further enhanced my photography.

To me photography is like a form of meditation. You have to "slow down" and simplify your subject. If you don't absorb yourself in the subject and the moment, the film won't reward you.

I was a big fan of motocross for a while and had been capturing images of the Atlantic Canadian MX scene. This was a great learning experience for me as it takes a greater knowledge of the subject and equipment to sucessfully capture a quality image in this fast paced environment.

Photography is an endless learning curve as there are endless possibilities for capturing images. I look forward to every increment of that learning curve.

I hope you enjoy the images presented on this website. If you are interested in purchasing any of the images or have any comments you would like to pass along send me an e-mail at the link below.

Sincerely,

Willard Morash
